Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a painless, drug-free treatment that helps manage pain and speeds up healing. At Teller Park Veterinary Service, we use pet laser therapy in Divide to treat both acute injuries and chronic conditions. It works by stimulating cell regeneration, increasing blood flow to the affected area, and triggering the release of the body’s natural pain-relieving hormones.
What Laser Therapy Treats
Laser therapy can help with:
- Arthritis and degenerative joint disease
- Hip dysplasia
- Post-surgical healing and incision care
- Soft tissue injuries and trauma
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Hot spots and ear infections
- Nerve and muscle conditions
It’s often used alongside other treatments like medications or physical therapy to provide additional pain relief and promote healing.
What to Expect
Sessions typically last 10-30 minutes. Most pets see improvement after 3-5 treatments, and the pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects continue for up to 24 hours after each session. The process is non-invasive and doesn’t hurt—many pets find it relaxing, and some even fall asleep during treatment.
When Laser Therapy Makes Sense
Laser therapy is particularly useful for pets who can’t tolerate traditional pain medications like NSAIDs due to health issues. It’s also a good option for managing chronic conditions where long-term medication use isn’t ideal, or as part of post-operative recovery to speed healing.
Not every pet or condition will benefit from laser therapy, but it’s worth discussing if your pet is dealing with chronic pain or recovering from surgery or injury.
